Sponsored by University of Illinois Extension, the Master Gardener program trains adult volunteers to help disseminate up-to-date, research-based horticulture information to home gardeners.
Anyone can become a Master Gardener. All you need is to:
Have a sincere desire to learn and share home horticulture information.
Have practical experience or knowledge of gardening.
Be willing to follow U of I pest control recommendations and home horticulture information.
Be able to communicate effectively.
Devote time to training sessions and volunteering.

The Adams/Brown Master Gardeners provided 2013 volunteer hours in Adams and Brown counties in 2005. The value of this volunteer service is over $35,000. (US Dept. of Labor) In addition, they provided numerous presentations to both adults and youth and answered more than 80 resident's lawn & garden questions. More than 750 residents participated in a horticulture program through the Adams/Brown Unit this past year.
