Mike McLaughlin, Adams County Board Chair, has appointed a 19-member committee to develop a comprehensive plan for Adams County. The first meeting was May 29, 2007, and future meetings will be held on the 4th Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. Locations for meetings will likely vary in an effort to explore the county and expand opportunities for the public to participate.

Adams County Comprehensive Planning Committee Goals(adopted on June 26, 2007)
Develop a plan for Adams County and the communities within to accommodate a growth of 5000 people in the next 10 years. The plan will consider:
1) Estimating where additional population would live, work, play
2) Capital investments in housing, factories, food production
3) Education facilities
4) Transportation:-I-172 corridor, local roads, rail, air, river.
5) Emergency response
6) Health of citizens & human services
7) Recreation
8) Utility extensions and energy sources
9) Communications
10) Preservation & enhancement of real estate value
