The next meeting of the local food policy council is scheduled for Tuesday March 27, 2007 at 2:30 pm at Cathy's Corner Cafe, 5^th & Hampshire, Quincy, IL. Those attending the first meeting last month shared a variety of issues they felt needed to be included in an assessment of the local food system. The issues were divided into six major categories: agriculture; health; education; hunger; food access; and economic development. The ideas generated included everything from improving and expanding existing programs; to new opportunities in education, marketing, and economic development; to the need for a regional approach.
