Yield Calculators
Available
Soon producers are going to want to know the size of their expected fall harvest for
planning purposes. Two years ago, I was looking for a way to estimate yields in my corn
and soybean fields using my handheld computer and I developed two spreadsheet
applications that do the job very well. The calculators use the best parts of yield
estimating formulas from several different land grant universities.
The applications determine not only the total number of seeds, but you can plug in
different seed sizes to account for the current growing season to get a better estimate of
the “true” number of bushels per acre. The calculators are in the Excel format, but I can
make them available in other formats if you notify me, see below for e-mail link.
The Yield Calculators are available for corn and narrow row soybeans.
