University of Illinois Extension Staff, 1994-2004

Lisa Woessner dedicated her professional career to 4-H youth development. She first worked as a 4-H youth development educator in Montgomery County and then served as a center youth development educator for the northwest region. In her career with the University of Illinois Extension, Lisa became a strong advocate for science and technology programs; she helped establish a Biotechnology Camp and a Science Siesta for 4-H. Her peers admired her creativity, compassion, helpfulness, eagerness to learn, and her sense of humor. Lisa is credited for always keeping the workplace "fun" for her team of colleagues. She was a member of the National Association of 4-H Agents (NAE4HA) and served as the 2003-2004 president of the Illinois Extension Professionals for Youth Education (IEPYE). Lisa lived true to the values of the 4-H program. She served as a mentor and valued friend to so many of her 4-H Youth Development colleagues. Lisa’s family, colleagues, and friends, established the Lisa Woessner Memorial 4-H Science and Technology Award Endowed Fund following Lisa’s untimely death in October, 2004. This "Forever 4-H" endowment will provide awards that support innovative new 4-H youth development programs related to science and technology for all the years to come.
