An enthusiastic and loyal supporter of 4-H for his entire career, George Daigh continues to be a valued resource and generous financial contributor even during his retirement. George is a native of Springfield, Illinois, and earned Animal Science degrees at Purdue University and then the University of Illinois. He worked as an Extension Farm Advisor in Fulton County and Pike County before joining the state 4-H office team at the University of Illinois campus. George served as Executive Secretary and Executive Director of the Illinois 4-H Foundation from 1967-1985. George was appreciated for his creative energy, tireless commitment, and caring spirit while providing exceptional stewardship of the Illinois 4-H Foundation. During George’s tenure, the Illinois 4-H Foundation launched several major fundraising initiatives including the statewide "Four Million for 4-H" campaign. The endowed funds established under George’s leadership continue to provide critical annual support for the University of Illinois Extension 4-H Youth Development programs today.
